Our Mission

Corporate finance studies originate from agency theory which considers the difficulties in motivating managers to act in the best interests of shareholders. In an emerging market such as Korea, agency problem becomes one of the key concerns of the shareholders in a way of determining the value of the ownership they own. This motivates an extensive and in-depth corporate finance research of SYNOSIA LAB to figure out the effect of agency problem on firm value and to evaluate and develop corporate financial devices for the best interests of shareholders. SYNOSIA LAB collects and analyzes financial data, focusing on corporate mergers, acquisitions, and spinoffs, internal capital markets, credit ratings, and corporate governance issues. By its comprehensive research, SYNOSIA LAB aims to contribute not only to the academic field of finance but also to the general business and financial industries as well as the financial regulatory authorities.
